The Ojai Learning Ecosystem Human Library

​A living collection of community wisdom, passion, and lived experience.

 

Our Human Library is a searchable database of community members who have opted in to share their skills and experience with educators and young people across our valley. 

​

Every person carries knowledge worth sharing. It might come from their work, creative practice,  skills honed over time, paths  walked, or simply something they love and enjoy talking about. This Human Library honors these lived experiences as meaningful sources of learning worth sharing.

Young people in are seeking exactly this: authentic relationships with people beyond the classroom—people who can spark curiosity, offer perspective, and open doors to learning that happens in the world itself.

Contributors might offer skills, knowledge, or experience with learners in classrooms, professional, or community settings. Examples of what this looks like: 

​

• Sharing your expertise and/or industry connections as a mentor or advisor.

• Share a hands-on activity that engages young people in an area of your expertise.

• Provide feedback on student projects or skills.

• Offer an opportunity to gain real world experience such as an internship or employment opportunity.

• Offer a site visit, inviting a class or learners to visit your work space or community project.

When you participate as a Human Library contributor, you become part of a vibrant, co-generational web of learning. Together, we are creating a culture that values curiosity, connection, and the unique rhythms, values, and richness of our local community.
